United Restoration was awarded the exterior marble façade restoration package by HITT Contracting in 2014. The main scope of work was the remove, catalogue, and ship over 600 pieces of 4-inch thick marble panels. The Marble was resurfaced by honoring approximately 1/8 inch off the face of the marble. After resurfacing, the marble was shipped back to the project site for reinstallation. URP was responsible for the creation of the installation support System (anchors) for the marble.
Prior to the installation of the marble, URP installed a vapor-permeable waterproofing membrane on the backup wall construction. The installation of the marble pieces required that they be installed in the exact locations, including the orientation of the veining of the marble pieces. Following the marble installation, URP installed non-staining silicone sealant at all the marble-to-marble joints.
