Project Summary

The 1914 San Jacinto Memorial Building on HCC’s central campus is considered the birthplace of the University of Houston and the community college. At the end of last year, the National Park Service approved the building as a historic site. The 3-story Houston Community College San Jacinto Memorial Building is approximately 180,000 SF and was originally built in 1914 with major additions in the 1920’s and 1930’s. It has been renovated several times in the last 100 years. United was selected to restore the exterior of the building back to its original design. Scope of work included; removal of existing coating to expose historic stone and brick, masonry crack repair, repointing, masonry repairs, stabilization at windows, installation of new lintels and flashing, new cast stone and new masonry.
