United Restoration was contracted to repair/restore the exterior façade of
the once American Can Factory in New Orleans, Louisiana. The property
consisted of two structure types: concrete and brick veneer with large steel
windows and multi-wythe brick walls with wood windows. In an effort to
control costs and satisfy the historical requirements, the owner selected to
restore the original steel windows in place. Over a period of 2-3 years, United
Restoration meticulously removed layers of failed paint, repaired the original
steel window components, and installed new high-performance coating to all
steel windows, and replaced all existing sealants within the window systems.
Additional façade repairs included: concrete spall repairs, façade cleaning, and
application of a breathable exterior coating.
