Originally built in 1906, the Carnegie Building was funded by Andrew Carnegie to be the first campus standalone library. Boasting original structural wood elements that tie into mass masonry walls before transitioning outward to the stunning brick façade featuring limestone accents, the Carnegie Building restoration was an exciting challenge that involved all facets of the project team to complete. United Restoration worked hand in hand with Architecture and Design Firm Lord Aeck Sargent to tuck-point and clean 100% of the brick/limestone façade. Other prominent restorations included the modification of multiple historic windows to accommodate the original wood jambs, sashes, sills, and headers that were removed during previous renovations in the latter half of the 20th century, as the building transitioned from a library to Presidential Office Suites. Building sealants parapet flashings, and failed steel lintels were also replaced as part of the restoration.
