United Restoration recently teamed up with Cathedral Stone Products, a restoration material manufacturer, to complete some significant stucco repairs at the Historic East Feliciana Courthouse in Clinton, Louisiana. After some investigative and testing work, United Restoration found some significant deterioration in the columns that required some additional repair procedures that were to the satisfaction of the conservators. The scope of work included paint stripping (S301), column capital repair (M70), removal of existing stucco at selected locations, installation of a new stucco system (M60), and application of Cathedral Stone Product’s mineral-based “Silin Silith” coating. Other work included re-setting of stone curbs, placement of a new footing, and sheet waterproofing. Working together, Cathedral Stone Products and United Restoration were able to deliver a top-quality product that addressed the water issues and restored the historic courthouse columns to their original grandeur.
