Built in 1939, the former Franklinton High School now operates as the junior
high school for Washington Parish. The building was listed on the National
Register of Historic Places in 1998. United Restoration & Preservation, Inc.
was awarded the exterior Franklinton Jr. High Waterproofing & Masonry
Repairs Project in 2023. The project scope involved a variety of exterior
masonry and waterproofing repairs, which included brick masonry removal,
salvage, and rebuilding, miscellaneous repointing of mortar joints, window
perimeter sealants, façade cleaning, application of water repellent, and
backside of parapet roof coating installation. Upon starting the project,
exploratory openings and continued inspection determined that the existing
angles that supported precast at the window headers were severely
deteriorated. This resulted in the replacement of all support angles over all
windows where precast elements occurred on the main school building.
