In 1964, Daniel Construction Company held the groundbreaking for a 25-
story headquarters building in Greeneville, SC. The new building would be the
tallest in South Carolina at the time. The facade would be clad with White
Cherokee Georgia Marble, Precast Wall Panels, Bronze Panels, and tinted
glass Units. Over time, the marble façade was exhibiting hysteresis (bowing)
which could lead to panel failures. United was tasked with evaluating the
2,235 marble panels on the façade, creating new horizontal relief joints
through the marble panels, providing supplemental anchorage for each marble
panel, and replacing marble panels as required. Additionally, United replaced
over 25 miles of silicone sealants at window perimeters, cladding control
joints, and perimeter glazing seals at the windows.
