The Garden Theater, Beaux-Arts style building, was built in 1917 by Albert Sottle as a vaudeville and “photoplay” theater. Since 2005, retailer Urban Outfitters has housed the Theater.
The Façade Repair project consisted of Terra Cotta repointing, Sealant Replacement, Terra Cotta Spall Repairs, and Glazing Repairs. The Parapet and Water table were completely dismantled and rebuilt, which included the top six courses of terra cotta on the East Façade. The Rebuild included the installation of a new reinforced CMU backup wall, and a new galvanized steel support structure.
In total 286 new Terra Cotta pieces were installed on the façade. After installation the entire façade was cleaned per historic standards.
